Almaty has presented one of the city’s key development documents — the Master Plan for the City’s Transport Framework through 2030. The plan was developed at the request of the Akim (Mayor) of Almaty by the international company Future of Mobility, in collaboration with the Almatygenplan Research Institute and the Project Office for Transport System Development under the Akimat.

The document focuses on the development of public transport, with one of its main goals being a 64% increase in annual public transport trips over the next seven years — from 1.4 million to 2.3 million. To achieve this, the plan envisions the creation of a network of transport corridors adapted for high-speed public transit along the city's main arterial roads.
